Ever Wondered Why Prince William Doesn’t Wear a Wedding Ring? Here’s the Reason…

William chose not to wear a wedding band when he married Kate Middleton in 2011, a decision that continues to this day. However, he wasn’t the first royal to break away from this tradition.

Prince William, the Prince of Wales, was recently seen attending the “Homelessness: Reframed” exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery on Sept. 5, 2024, in London.

His decision to forgo a wedding ring has sparked curiosity, especially as Kate Middleton’s engagement ring—a striking sapphire and diamond piece once belonging to Princess Diana—has remained a notable symbol of their union.

While Kate’s wedding day included receiving a Welsh gold wedding band crafted from gold gifted by Queen Elizabeth, William opted out of wearing one altogether.

This choice aligns with some royal precedents; his grandfather, Prince Philip, also chose not to wear a wedding ring throughout his 73-year marriage to Queen Elizabeth II.

On the other hand, King Charles and Prince Harry both wear wedding bands, the latter’s made of Welsh gold. William’s decision is simply a matter of personal style, with sources noting that he’s never been one for jewelry.

Royal commentator Eloise Parker explains that it’s not unusual for royal men to skip wedding bands, emphasizing that their highly publicized weddings leave no doubt about their marital status.
