Princess Sofia has welcomed her fourth child with Prince Carl Philip, a baby girl born on February 7, 2025. The Swedish palace announced that Sofia gave birth to a healthy daughter at Danderyd Hospital.
The couple has not yet revealed the name or first photo of their daughter, who joins three older brothers: Prince Alexander, 8, Prince Gabriel, 7, and Prince Julian, 3.
The newborn is eighth in line to the throne but does not hold the HRH title, in line with a decision made by King Carl XVI Gustaf in 2019 for children of Prince Carl Philip and Princess Madeleine.
This new addition is the ninth grandchild for King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia.
Princess Sofia, who turned 40 in December, previously announced her pregnancy in September and attended Princess Martha Louise’s wedding before sharing the news.
The royal family also includes Crown Princess Victoria and her children, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar, as well as Princess Madeleine, who has three children with her husband, Christopher O’Neill.
