Mum-Of-Two Covered In Thousands Of Tumours Unrecognisable After 24 Life-Changing Surgeries

A REMARKABLE video captures the astonishing turnaround of a woman once covered in thousands of bubble-shaped growths that left her struggling to walk, eat, and even breathe.

Charmaine Sahadeo, 43, from Trinidad, describes herself as feeling “beautiful” for the first time in years after enduring an extraordinary 60-hour surgical marathon to strip away the masses that had spread across her face, scalp, torso, and arms and legs.

Charmaine lives with NF-1 neurofibromatosis, a rare inherited disorder that triggers the growth of non-cancerous tumours along nerve pathways throughout the body.

The illness first showed itself when she was a teenager of just 13, though at that stage she only had a handful of small bumps on her face. The condition runs in her family — she inherited the same defective gene from her mother.

Roughly 1 in 3,000 people globally live with this disorder, but Charmaine’s case stands out as unusually extreme.

Everything changed once she became pregnant with her son, Osiris. During that time, her body became covered in a dense layer of tumours, transforming what had once been a mild case into something far more severe.

Beyond the smaller clustered growths, Charmaine developed a sizeable mass on her leg that made walking even short distances an exhausting struggle. A separate tumour inside her mouth — which she jokingly named “Frank” — interfered with both speaking and eating.

Most alarming of all, the growths eventually surrounded her nostrils so completely that breathing itself became difficult.

Over a span of 10 weeks, Charmaine endured 24 separate operations — and the results have been nothing short of astonishing. Her breathing, swallowing, and mobility have all seen major improvement, and she says the change has made her life “one-hundred percent better.”
