Kevin Spacey built one of Hollywood’s most respected careers over three decades. He won two Academy Awards, for “The Usual Suspects” and “American Beauty.” He also starred as Frank Underwood in the Netflix series “House of Cards,” a role that made him one of the most recognized actors on television.

In 2017, another actor came forward with a sexual accusation about an unwanted advance at a party many years earlier, when he was a teenager and Spacey was in his twenties. Other people soon shared similar stories. Netflix ended its relationship with Spacey shortly after, and his role in “House of Cards” came to a close.
In the years that followed, Spacey faced legal proceedings in the UK connected to these accusations. A jury cleared him of all charges in 2023. A separate case in the United States had also been resolved in his favor the year before.

More recently, a small number of civil claims were filed against him in the UK. In March 2026, Spacey reached a resolution with the people involved before the matter went to trial, and no details were made public.
Spacey has spent the past couple of years working to return to acting. He signed on in 2026 to lead a World War II drama called “Melodies in the Forest,” playing an elderly conductor whose past resurfaces. In a recent interview, Spacey said he feels more welcomed and believes things are moving in a positive direction for him. He continues to say the claims against him were not true.
