Augie, believed to be the oldest living Golden Retriever, is celebrating her 20th birthday

When Jennifer and Steve Hetterscheidt adopted a 14-year-old Golden Retriever, they wanted to provide her a loving home where she could live out the rest of her days. But they had no idea that their new canine was going to be quite the adventure! August, or “Augie,” 20-year-old dog who recently celebrated her birthday.
“They believed most people wouldn’t want such an old golden,” Golden Hearts Golden Retriever Rescue said on its website, “but they had no idea of the forthcoming trip they would go on with Augie.” “They’ve taken her on RV excursions all over the nation, she has multiple canine and feline siblings, and she gets to swim in the pool and play catch.”

Augie is thought to be the world’s oldest living Golden Retriever, with the breed’s usual lifetime being 10-12 years.

And Mom says her dog is “surprisingly healthy” despite her old age.

Augie’s legs are a little shaky when she first gets up, but she enjoys walking about the yard. Here’s wishing adorable Augie many many joyful and healthy birthdays!
