After saving her owner’s life after he suffered a stroke, a six-year-old German shepherd is being hailed as a hero.
When her owner, Brian Myers, suffered a stroke and fainted on the floor of his house in New Jersey last week, Sadie the dog went into action.
Brian, who is presently in rehab for treatment following his stroke, paid tribute to his brave dog in an emotional interview, describing how she came to his rescue in the middle of the night. He informed CBS2 that he was asleep and needed to use the restroom in the middle of the night. ‘I fell down and hit the ground as soon as I stepped on the floor.’ I couldn’t stand up again.’
Doctors informed Brian that he had suffered a stroke while sleeping, and the results could have been considerably worse if it hadn’t been for Sadie, who ran over to help him after he collapsed.
Brian explained, ‘I just grabbed her collar and she started pulling her weight backwards.’ ‘And it was with it that I was able to slide over the floor.’ I’d probably still be laying there if it hadn’t been for you.’
The shelter noted, ‘She was confused and appeared lost upon rescue, having abruptly lost the only family she knew.
“Sadie is a devoted dog, but she is nervous and protective with new people, which makes difficulties with meeting new people.”
Brian, on the other hand, stepped in and adopted her a few months ago. She is bonded with Brian despite her usual caution around people.
