When the 12-year-old family cat went missing for many hours, his owners phoned the authorities. The family was surprised, however, when he reappeared later that evening, wearing a loving note around his neck. Marolyn Driver, an extraordinarily clever shepherd dog, was raised on his parents’ farm in New Zealand.
Louis was a cheerful and intelligent puppy with a lot of energy who liked to run about the farm and explore his surroundings from a young age. His daily routine changed as he got older, and he spent more time at home.
That’s why Louis’ owners were alarmed when he went missing for many hours one day. To everyone’s surprise, the dog returned home later that evening with a strange note around his neck. He seemed bruised and dirty.
The family believed that someone had harmed their pet. When they read the handwritten letter, though, everyone relaxed. Rob, their next-door neighbor, sent the message, writing that the dog did a genuinely heroic gesture by bringing him to his dog Maddy, who was stuck behind a pile of branches.
Rob’s dog’s name was Maddie. They soon discovered what had happened to them. Maddie fled the next day, and Rob hunted everywhere for her, but to no avail.
When he got home, Louis welcomed him with a snarl and beckoned Rob to follow him. Rob trusted his intuition and followed Louis until he found the missing puppy in the woods. Louie started digging to help Rob rescue his friend.
Maddie was rescued because of this heroic dog. The two fatigued dogs dashed to a nearby pond, leaped in, and started to sip the water.
Louis was so exhausted that day that he didn’t even eat and promptly fell asleep.
