He didn’t have a cent in his pocket, but having his puppy back was everything to him. A young homeless man was discovered sleeping in front of an animal shelter, hoping that his missing dog might appear.
When a staffer at Georgia’s DeKalb County Animal Services came to work in the morning, he saw the guy laying on the pavement in front of their shelter. When they awoke him, they discovered that he had used his last cash to ride the bus over to them after his canine had disappeared. He was waiting for them to open so he could find out whether they had located her.
They had, it turned out. Two weeks earlier, the shelter had picked up a stray and transported it to their new location on the opposite side of town. That’s when the kennel worker performed an act of compassion that quickly went viral.
The shelter worker covered the cost of his train ticket, allowing him to go to the other site and reconcile with his buddy, Tata. “We’ve witnessed several great reunions here at LifeLine’s DeKalb Animal Services, but this one was exceptionally special,” the shelter noted.
The shelter was so affected by the poignant reunion that they dropped all costs and gave the guy support via their outreach program, which assists homeless people with their pets.
I’m overjoyed that he got reunited with his dog. If witnessing this touching reunion makes you joyful, please share it with your friends and family.
