When Rosie, a Golden Retriever mix, was brought to the Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue, discarded and pregnant, shelter owners Katie and John Black rushed to her aid.
The pups, unlike their gold-coated mother Rosie, were a mottled bunch. The black and brown markings on their white coats reminded me of a herd of small newborn cows! Daisy, Clarabelle, Betsy, and Moo were appropriately given bovine names.
Cross-breeding often results in noticeable variances in the appearance of the pups, but in Rosie’s case, the complete absence of likeness was astonishing. But it didn’t diminish Rosie’s affection for her adorable puppies in the least!
Rosie and her kids have all been adopted into caring forever homes. We are grateful to Katie and John for their genuine efforts in looking for the litter and providing them with good homes!
