After years apart, a dog rushes into the arms of a soldier and his reaction is amazing

Vance McFarland, an Army expert, has been waiting eagerly since his service in Afghanistan. Of course, no soldier is ever sent on a mission alone. Vance was accompanied by Ikar, a Czech shepherd trained as a tactical bomb detection dog.

They got home, and after a quick selfie with their mission partner, Ikar was separated from Vance and sent back to Afghanistan. You can hear the anguish in his voice as he described what happened.

According to the account, when Ikar returned, a private firm offered to hire the dog, but this did not happen. Ikar wound up in a kennel for what was intended to be a month or two, but he remained for 17 months.

Ikar was left alone for an extended period of time.

Mission K9 Rescue and the US War Canines Association stepped in to assist Ikar and other dogs in returning to their mission partners for much-needed TLC. Because McFarland was Ikar’s initial handler, the factions had to put forth some effort to find him.

Vance then describes how he felt “stalked” on Facebook, getting messages about Ikar. Remember that this individual is a soldier. Stalking means something different to them than it does to us.

But can you imagine his delight when he learned about his former buddy.

“I’m hoping he remembers me.”

Even though it’s been three years, Ikar recalls Vance. Ikar notices Vance as he comes around the corner, and when Vance calls out to him, the gorgeous dog runs to McFarland’s arms. Vance, look at him cuddling and sniffing!

Hugs and hugs galore!
Talk about being overwhelmed. Even Vance, a man trained for combat, had a smile on his face. That’s the love of a guy and his closest buddy. You can bet Ikar accompanied him home. This gorgeous shepherd will spend the rest of his days with Vance’s wife and two other dogs, being treated and loved as all pets deserve.

The Bohemian Shepherd is another name for the Czech people. They are a gregarious and clever breed that was originally designed to be guard and service dogs. This breed enjoys being around children and families, which means a lot of training and playing for potential owners. They are patient and will learn rapidly, making full use of their high intellect.

Vance and Ikar handled it with ease.

Viewers voiced their opinions.

“These dogs should never be separated from their companions (trainers); when he returns home, the dogs should as well.” These dogs are incredible! That dog was overjoyed and clearly recognized his companion. ”

Others seem to have the same feelings.

“My heart began sobbing when the soldier uttered “I love you” to his friend!”

If Ikar performed well throughout his deployment (which we are certain he did), he will perform admirably as a family dog at home. These Czech shepherds get along with everyone, even other animals. Plus, he has plenty of room to extend his legs without fear of triggering a bomb.

Vance claims they have a lot of toys, but they’ll go acquire some more. Ikar, who is five years old, will be able to retire early.
