Julie Thornton Johnson and her husband, Jimmy Johnson, enjoy spending time with their dogs.
They have three children who often sleep in their bed.
As a result, when a strange dog crept into their bed in the middle of the night, they didn’t think much of it.
The southern Tennessee couple didn’t notice anything unusual until the next morning, after a rainstorm.
When Jimmy turned to face his wife, he inquired, “Julie, whose dog is this?”
She had no response for him since she had no clue who this 90-pound bulldog-lab mix resting in their king-size bed was or where she had come from.
“He and I locked eyes for a split second and remained quiet.” “And I was like, ‘That’s not our dog,'” Julie said to The Washington Post.
The dog was just laying on her back, belly up, asking for scritches.
“First and foremost, how did the dog get into my house?” And two, we have three dogs that bark at everything. They bark when they see a squirrel, a rabbit, or a bird in the yard. “There was no noise,” Julie said.
The pair suspect they may have left the back door open by mistake, but they still don’t know how she got to cuddle up to them without bothering their other dogs.
Julie and Jimmy were “caught aback” by the whole incident.
“It was clear at the time that she posed no threat to anybody.” She was merely a puppy enjoying a sleepover, “Julie told USA Today.
Julie and Jimmy were ready to take in their new friend, but they wanted to make sure they weren’t taking someone else’s pet first.
On Facebook, she admitted, “This is the strangest post I have ever had to write.””Does this come from you?”
A few hours later, Cris Hawkins and Felecia Johnson answered and said that the mystery dog was theirs. They gave the dog the name Nala.
Nala bolted after being dislodged from her collar during a stroll. They looked for the dog but had to give up when it grew dark.
They hoped that Nala would ultimately return home.
Instead, after being startled by the thunderstorm, she made her way inside Julie and Jimmy’s home.
“She most certainly did not utilize the key beneath the mat.” Julie said: “She didn’t come down the chimney, and she didn’t break in via a window.” “Some folks have asked us, ‘Well, did she get in via the air conditioning vents?'” ‘How did this dog get inside?’ She stepped directly inside the front door.
Julie awoke at about 4:30 a.m., thinking the bulge was one of her pets. Jimmy didn’t understand this wasn’t the case until he woke up at 6:30 a.m.
“She’s nearly as large as I am, but ever since she was a puppy, I’ve carried her on my hip like a tiny child.” “Even though she’s grown, she still expects me to do it,” the dog’s owner said. “It’s much more difficult now, but I had to move this large dog out of (Julie and Jimmy’s) home.” If it wasn’t enough insane, I had to carry her out like a kid. ”
