Céline Dion’s Stunning Comeback and Lady Gaga’s Enchanting Tribute at the Paris Olympics: Who Sang Better?

Céline Dion made a stunning comeback at the Paris Olympic Games, captivating audiences with a breathtaking performance. The superstar singer closed the ceremony on Friday with an emotional rendition of Edith Piaf’s timeless classic, “L’Hymne à l’amour,” from the first stage of the Eiffel Tower.

Dion was in top form, her powerful voice resonating as she flawlessly hit the high, clear notes. She wore a dazzling beaded white gown with tassels, adding to the splendor of the event. Kelly Clarkson, who was commentating for NBC, was momentarily speechless after Dion’s performance, later praising her and calling her “a vocal athlete.”

This live performance marks Dion’s first concert appearance since revealing her struggle with stiff person syndrome. According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, this condition is “a rare, progressive syndrome that affects the nervous system, specifically the brain and spinal cord.”

Dion, 56, announced in December 2022 that she was stepping back from professional commitments to focus on her health, explaining that the condition hindered her ability to sing as she used to. Prior to this, Dion’s last live performance was in March 2020 in New Jersey.

The Olympics’ opening ceremony also featured a stellar performance by Lady Gaga, who paid homage to France’s leading lady of Music Hall performances in the 1950s by performing “Mon truc en plume” by Zizi Jeanmaire along the Seine river.

Gaga’s tribute to Jeanmaire added an extra layer of charm and nostalgia to the event, making the opening ceremony a memorable celebration of music and culture.
