A nurse from Essex, England, stumbled upon an abandoned suitcase on the pavement during her commute to work. Her instincts prompted her to investigate further, and what she discovered inside left her astounded.
Upon opening the suitcase, she found it contained fifteen tiny kittens, no older than three to five weeks.
The suitcase had been punctured with several holes, seemingly to provide ventilation and allow the kittens to breathe. This thoughtful yet desperate act suggested that whoever left them behind wanted them to survive.
Moreover, the suitcase was deliberately discarded near a well-known animal refuge, indicating that the person who abandoned the kittens was likely aware of the shelter’s location.
At this tender age, the kittens are still dependent on bottle-feeding, as they have not yet been weaned. This is crucial to ensure they receive the proper nutrition to avoid health issues.
The shelter staff are now taking on the task of caring for these vulnerable animals. They are committed to providing the necessary care and finding loving homes for each of the fifteen kittens.
While the initial assessment of the kittens shows that most are in good health, six of them are displaying signs of eye infections. The shelter workers are closely monitoring their condition to ensure they receive appropriate treatment and support.
