At first glance, baby Oscar Jones might remind you of Mowgli from *The Jungle Book*. Born with nearly two inches of jet-black hair, his thick locks were even visible on scans before birth, though doctors initially estimated them to be only about half an inch long.
His parents, Sara Morris, 36, and Joshua Jones, 29, were amazed by the amount of hair when Oscar was born. Reportedly, they had to take him for his first haircut just eight weeks after birth. The couple frequently receives comments from admirers about Oscar’s striking hair when they’re out and about.
Now 20 weeks old, Oscar has earned the nickname Mowgli. Sara shared, “We couldn’t believe how much hair he had when he was born! His hair was and still is very thick and very black. Though Joshua and I both have brown hair, in this respect, he takes after his father more.”
Oscar seems to be aware of his thick mane, often playing with it when lying down, though he cries when his fingers get tangled. During Sara’s pregnancy, she experienced gestational diabetes and intense heartburn in May, leading her and Joshua to consult a doctor.
It was during a routine checkup that they first saw Oscar’s hair on the scan, already 1 cm long. They expected some hair at birth but were surprised by the abundance.
Sara joked that the first thing she thought when she saw Oscar was that he looked like Mowgli. The nickname stuck, especially since Oscar’s mischievous behavior matches his wild hair.
