Despite growing up in a low-income family, Steve Harvey held onto ambitious dreams that propelled him toward success.
Born on January 17, 1957, in Welch, West Virginia, to a coal miner father and a Sunday school teacher mother, Steve faced financial hardships early in life.

From a young age, he aspired to be on television; at just ten years old, he wrote down his goals and remained determined to overcome a stutter that could have derailed his ambitions.
His journey was fraught with challenges, including homelessness, as he lived in his car for several years while pursuing a career in comedy.
In 1985, he made the courageous decision to leave his stable job to follow his comedic dreams, often surviving on only $50 a week.

His perseverance paid off when he won a national comedy competition in 1990, leading to a breakout performance on “Showtime at the Apollo” in 1993.
Today, Steve is a renowned comedian, TV host, and author, inspiring many, especially those with speech impairments, to overcome obstacles.

Now happily married to Marjorie Harvey, he cherishes family life and often expresses gratitude for his seven children and seven grandchildren, who motivate him every day.
