If you’ve bought Breyers Natural Vanilla ice cream anytime in the past eight years, you might qualify for compensation.
A lawsuit was filed against Breyers by law firms Reese LLP and Sheehan and Associates, claiming that the company misled consumers about the vanilla flavor in their ice cream.
While Breyers advertised the flavor as coming from vanilla beans, it allegedly contained flavors from non-vanilla sources.
Unilever, the owner of Breyers, and their advertising agency, Conopco, have denied the allegations. Although the court hasn’t ruled on the case, a settlement has been reached that could benefit customers.
As part of the settlement, Breyers must change their ice cream formula to exclude non-vanilla flavorings within the next year. Additionally, they’ve agreed to pay $8.85 million into a settlement fund to compensate eligible customers.
If you purchased Breyers Natural Vanilla ice cream between April 21, 2016, and August 14, 2024, you can file a claim without needing a receipt.
The deadline to submit your claim is February 19, 2025, with one claim allowed per household. If you wish to take separate legal action, you’ll need to opt out of this class action settlement.
