While Kate Winslet has come to terms with the fame *Titanic* brought her, she still recalls some challenging experiences that followed the film’s release in 1997.
In a recent interview with *Porter Magazine*, she shared, “I felt like I had to look a certain way or embody a specific image. The media scrutiny was intense at that time, making my life quite difficult.”
Winslet reflected on the pressure she faced, recalling how journalists would say, “After *Titanic*, you could have done anything, yet you chose to make small films.” Her response was simple: “Yes, I did! Because my fame was overwhelming.”
It took her years to build the career she truly wanted. Now, at 48, she thrives in roles that suit her, often opting for independent films.
Despite her preference for smaller projects, she is open to returning to larger productions, like reuniting with James Cameron for the *Avatar* series.
Winslet acknowledges the positives of her early fame, noting that it allowed her to find an apartment at 22, which she considers a significant milestone.
