Little Johnny is constantly mocked by the neighborhood boys, who think he’s “stupid.” Yes, you read that right! These boys are convinced they’re clever, but they’re in for a surprise.
Their favorite prank? Offering Johnny a choice between a nickel and a dime. And every time, with a sly smile, Johnny picks the nickel without hesitation, sending the boys into fits of laughter.
Then comes along a well-meaning but slightly condescending adult, who can’t stand seeing Johnny being “made fun of.”
After Johnny accepts yet another nickel, the adult pulls him aside and says, “Johnny, don’t you realize those boys are teasing you? A dime is worth more than a nickel, even though the nickel is bigger.”
Expecting Johnny to be embarrassed? Nope, not a chance! With a twinkle in his eye, Johnny delivers the punchline:
“If I took the dime, they’d stop offering, and so far, I’ve made $20!”
