Royal experts report that although King Charles seems to be recovering, his health remains fragile as he battles cancer.
The palace has quietly initiated “Operation Menai Bridge,” a detailed plan for a royal funeral, as concerns grow over the 75-year-old monarch’s condition.
This planning mirrors “Operation London Bridge,” created for Queen Elizabeth II upon her accession in 1952, which ensured a structured response upon her passing. Charles assumed the throne in 2022 as the oldest person in British history to do so, following his mother’s passing.
However, Charles’s reign has been marked by health issues. After a “corrective procedure” in early 2024, the palace later disclosed a cancer diagnosis.
In a heartfelt message on February 10, he expressed gratitude for the support he’d received, hoping his openness would spotlight organizations helping cancer patients and their families.
With Charles limited by treatment, Prince William has increased his royal duties, especially after his wife, Kate, also revealed her own cancer diagnosis in March 2024. Charles has recently returned to limited public duties but often needs extended rest afterward.
Prince William stands as the next in line, with all necessary plans in place for a smooth transition and state funeral at Westminster, fulfilling both protocol and Charles’s wishes.
