The Ruby Red Performers, a group of 12 women aged 25 to 64 from the quiet village of Withernsea, brought anything but an ordinary act to *Britain’s Got Talent*.
Their audition started with them dressed as washerwomen, performing a modest intro dance that quickly earned Simon Cowell’s buzzer. However, the ladies soon surprised everyone by revealing silk nightgowns and launching into a sultry routine.
As they danced to “I Like the Way You Move” by BodyRockers, they let loose, discarding layers until they reached a bold finale, donning British flag tassels and undergarments. The crowd, initially quiet, erupted in cheers as the tempo picked up.
Their audition soon went viral, garnering 16.7 million YouTube views, becoming one of the show’s most popular dance acts.
Commenters praised their energy, confidence, and joy, with viewers sharing how it made their day. In the semi-finals, Ruby Red Performers returned with a fresh act.
Afterward, Simon Cowell admitted he “pressed [his] button a little early,” while David Walliams called it “brilliantly original and really entertaining.”
Alesha Dixon added, “Ladies, that made my day… you’re empowering women.” Despite Cowell’s initial buzzer, they secured four “yes” votes, advancing to the next round.
