Prince William and Kate Middleton have now celebrated over a decade of marriage since their grand royal wedding. Shortly after their union, Prince Harry wed Meghan Markle in another highly publicized ceremony.
However, the once-close bond between the two brothers has significantly strained over the years, with some suggesting that Harry and Meghan’s relationship has contributed to the rift.
Meghan and Harry’s wedding was groundbreaking in many ways. Meghan, a former American actress, made history by joining the Royal Family. The event featured memorable moments, including King Charles (then Prince Charles) walking Meghan down the aisle.
Yet, a new report suggests the day wasn’t entirely joyful for Prince William, who reportedly had concerns about Meghan’s choice of wedding attire and its ties to Princess Diana.
Harry proposed with a custom ring featuring diamonds from Diana’s collection, but Meghan opted to wear another piece from their late mother’s jewelry at the wedding.
According to Harry’s memoir, *Spare*, and Robert Jobson’s biography *Catherine, The Princess of Wales*, William was uneasy about this decision. William reportedly sought Queen Elizabeth II’s assurance that Meghan wouldn’t wear additional pieces from Diana’s collection, a privilege reserved for Kate Middleton.
Despite underlying tensions, the Windsor wedding in 2018 appeared to be a spectacular success. Public smiles masked private discord as the brothers’ relationship continued to deteriorate.
