Only few can solve this without a calculator… Can you? Correct answer here!

A simple math problem has been making the rounds online, catching people off guard with its deceptive challenge. It starts with straightforward additions, but the trick lies in careful calculation.

Here’s how it goes: begin with 1,000, add 40, then another 1,000, followed by 30, another 1,000, then 20, another 1,000, and finally, add 10.

What total did you get? If you thought the answer was 5,000, you’re not alone. Many people arrive at this number, but it’s not correct.

The actual answer is 4,100. Let’s break it down. Adding 1,000 and 40 gives you 1,040. Adding another 1,000 makes it 2,040. Adding 30 brings it to 2,070, and another 1,000 raises it to 3,070.

Adding 20 results in 3,090, and another 1,000 makes it 4,090. Finally, adding 10 brings the total to 4,100.

The mistake often happens in the final step, where many instinctively jump to 5,000 instead of carefully adding 10 to 4,090. It’s a great reminder of how easy it is to slip up with mental math!

Did you get it right, or were you caught by the trick?
