Jennifer Garner recently shared the heartbreaking news that she lost a close friend in the devastating Southern California wildfires.
These fires have caused widespread destruction, leaving thousands without homes, belongings, and loved ones.
In an emotional interview with MSNBC, Garner, 52, said, “I did lose a friend who did not get out in time. My heart bleeds for my friends. I can think of 100 families, and there are 5,000 homes lost.”
Struggling with survivor’s guilt, she added, “I feel almost guilty walking through my house. What can I do? How can I help? What do I have to offer with these hands and these walls and the safety that I have?”
Determined to make a difference, the *Elektra* actress partnered with Chef José Andrés and his organization, World Central Kitchen, to support relief efforts.
“I took advantage of a little bit of celebrity privilege and called Chef to ask if I could join him,” Garner shared.
The wildfires have already claimed 25 lives, with the death toll expected to rise.
Firefighters continue to battle the flames, with only 14% of the Palisades fire and 33% of the Eaton fire contained. Unfortunately, strong winds predicted this week may worsen the situation further.
