Princess Kate decides at the last moment to accompany Prince William on a significant royal engagement…

The Prince and Princess of Wales will attend an official event in London on Monday to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day, which also marks 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Kate, 43, and Prince William, 42, have shown a long-standing commitment to Holocaust remembrance. In 2020, they attended the 75th anniversary event in London, where Kate photographed Holocaust survivors Yvonne Bernstein and Steven Frank at Kensington Palace.

The portraits were later displayed at the Imperial War Museum in London. Their earlier visit to the Stutthof concentration camp in Poland during a 2017 tour deeply moved the couple.

Kate, a mother of three, is gradually resuming her public duties following her recovery from cancer treatment. She recently visited the Royal Marsden Hospital in London on January 14, marking an emotional milestone.

Meanwhile, King Charles will become the first British monarch to visit Auschwitz-Birkenau. He will join foreign leaders, dignitaries, and Holocaust survivors for the commemoration in Poland.

At a Buckingham Palace reception ahead of Holocaust Memorial Day, the King emphasized the importance of attending the 80th anniversary.

Auschwitz-Birkenau remains a stark reminder of the Holocaust, where over a million people, primarily Jews, were murdered by the Nazis. The camp was liberated on January 27, 1945, by Soviet forces.
