Trisha Paytas recently reflected on her history of online cancellations, describing them as valuable learning experiences that ultimately helped her grow.
Before making her Broadway debut in *Trisha Paytas’ Big Broadway Dream* on February 3, the 36-year-old content creator spoke with *TimeOut New York* about the controversies she faced throughout her career and the lessons she learned.
“Being canceled is tough, but I saw it as an opportunity to improve,” Paytas shared. “At the time, I couldn’t recognize it, but the internet was pushing me to be better. It took years of self-reflection to accept constructive criticism rather than react defensively.”
Known for her past controversial online persona, Paytas said she underwent a transformation after welcoming her daughter, Malibu, in 2022. She now prioritizes listening to her audience and reevaluating her perspectives.
“I believe people genuinely want others to change and are willing to forgive if you’re open to learning,” she explained. “I struggled with mental illness, addiction, and a constant need for attention. It was painful to share publicly, but I’m proud to show that change—and happiness—is possible.”
Her Broadway debut featured special appearances from Sutton Foster, Ben Platt, and Rachel Zegler, marking a new chapter in her life and career.
