Howie Mandel is trying to make amends.
The *America’s Got Talent* judge has publicly apologized to comedian Bill Burr after blindsiding him with a surprise guest—Billy Corgan—during a podcast interview.
The unexpected encounter stemmed from past speculation that Burr and the *Smashing Pumpkins* frontman might share the same father.

“I feel horrible,” Mandel admitted on his *Howie Mandel Does Stuff* podcast. “I’m sorry, Bill. I’m sorry, Billy. I only tried to do something good.”
Mandel revealed that the backlash from the interview made for a “hellish week” but insisted his intentions were pure. Despite repeated attempts to reach out to Burr via text, the comedian has not responded.
During the podcast, Burr was visibly unhappy when Corgan appeared, calling the move “rude” and questioning why he wasn’t given a heads-up.

The incident left fans wondering whether the reaction was genuine or staged. However, Burr later confirmed on *The Rich Eisen Show* that he was legitimately upset, criticizing Mandel’s handling of the situation.
Mandel has since expressed sincere regret, urging both Burr and Corgan to reach out. “A sincere apology to Bill and Billy. I didn’t mean anything. Please call me or check in with me. I am truly sorry.”
