The Unexpected Reason Tom Hanks Was Without Pants Before the Mona Lisa…

Tom Hanks has had many remarkable moments throughout his career, but few compare to what happened while filming *The Da Vinci Code* in 2006.

According to director Ron Howard, the award-winning actor found himself in an unexpected situation—changing his pants right in front of the Mona Lisa.

During a recent event, Howard shared the story, revealing that the cast and crew were working under tight deadlines at the Louvre.

With no time to return to his dressing room, Hanks, 68, had to make a quick wardrobe change on set.

As Howard gave him notes for the next scene, the actor casually swapped his pants—just feet away from one of the world’s most famous paintings.

Reflecting on his collaborations with Hanks, Howard noted that they had filmed in extraordinary locations, from deep underwater in *Splash* to weightlessness in *Apollo 13*. “And now, here he was, standing pantless with the Mona Lisa,” he joked.

Having worked together on multiple films, the director has witnessed many unforgettable moments with Hanks, but this Louvre incident stands out as one of the most unexpected—a behind-the-scenes story few could have imagined.
