Keanu Reeves Is 61, And He Isn’t Chasing Youth. See What He Looks Like Now

Keanu Reeves is one of Hollywood’s most beloved and enduring stars, but behind the “internet’s favorite boyfriend” persona is a life marked by profound personal tragedy that he has largely faced away from the public eye.

In the late 1990s, Reeves was in a long-term relationship with Jennifer Syme. In 1999, the couple were expecting a daughter, Ava Archer Syme-Reeves, who was tragically stillborn. The loss devastated Reeves, and he and Syme’s relationship ended not long after, though they remained close. Then, in April 2001, Syme was killed in a car accident at age 28, just over a year after the loss of their daughter. Reeves has rarely spoken publicly about either loss in detail, but those close to him have described the period as one of the most painful of his life.

Reeves has also spoken about losing his younger sister, Kim, to leukemia, which she battled for roughly a decade before passing away in 2018. He was known to be closely involved in supporting her during her illness, and he has credited that experience with shaping his private, low-key approach to fame and his quiet philanthropic efforts.

Reeves has been in a relationship with visual artist Alexandra Grant since 2019, when the two made their public debut as a couple at the LACMA Art + Film Gala. The pair had actually known each other for years before that, having first collaborated creatively on the 2011 book “Ode to Happiness.” Grant has spoken about the relationship publicly, describing it as confident, independent, and built on mutual creative respect.

As for marriage: they are not married. In September 2025, rumors swept the internet claiming the couple had secretly wed in Europe, but both Reeves’s representative and Grant herself shot the reports down. Grant posted a photo of the two kissing on Instagram with the caption “This is a real photo. Not an engagement photo or an AI wedding announcement… simply a kiss!” and called the marriage claims “fake news.” Reeves later addressed it directly in interviews, thanking Grant for how she’d handled the speculation and confirming, “we didn’t get married.”

The two rang in 2026 together at a New Year’s Eve party in New York, with Grant writing on Instagram that the past year had allowed them “to fall in love with each other and our work in new ways.” As of now, they remain a committed, long-term couple — just not a married one.
