Forest Whitaker turned 65 this year. He was born on July 15, 1961, in Longview, Texas. He grew up in South Central Los Angeles. He later became one of the most respected actors in Hollywood.
Whitaker won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 2007. He won it for his role as Idi Amin in The Last King of Scotland. He is only the fourth Black actor in history to win this award. His deep voice and calm presence made him a favorite on screen for decades.

In January 2026, Whitaker was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Joy Awards in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The star-studded event also welcomed Millie Bobby Brown, Shah Rukh Khan, and Katy Perry. But it was a small detail that caught fans’ attention. Whitaker was seen walking down the steps with a cane, pausing carefully between each step. Many fans expressed concern and wondered what caused it.

Whitaker’s personal life has had its share of change in recent years. He was married to actress Keisha Nash for over twenty years. They share two daughters, Sonnet and True. He also has two older children, Ocean and Autumn, from earlier relationships. Nash passed away in December 2023. Whitaker has stayed close to his children since then.

Outside of acting, Whitaker spends much of his time on peace work. He serves as a UNESCO Special Envoy for Peace and Reconciliation. He leads his own organization that supports young people in conflict areas. Despite the health speculation, he continues to show up on the world stage.
