Jean Reno, 78 — From “Léon” To Novelist — See How He Looks Now

Jean Reno was born Juan Moreno y Herrera-Jiménez on July 30, 1948, in Casablanca. His parents were Spanish, and the family later moved to France, where he built his acting career and adopted the name the world knows him by.

He became a leading man of French cinema through his long partnership with director Luc Besson. Their collaboration produced his breakout role in Léon: The Professional, where he played the quiet hitman opposite a young Natalie Portman.

From there, Reno crossed into Hollywood. He starred alongside Robert De Niro in Ronin, played a scientist in Godzilla, and joined Tom Hanks in The Da Vinci Code. His calm, commanding screen presence made him a familiar face far beyond France.

Off screen, Reno has been married three times and is the father of six children. In recent years he has also become an author, publishing his first novel in 2024 and a follow-up in 2026.

Now 78, Jean Reno remains active in both film and writing. Fans who grew up watching his biggest roles are amazed to see how much he has accomplished, and how well he still looks today.
