Vincent Cassel was born Vincent Crochon on November 23, 1966, in Paris, France. He comes from a genuine showbiz lineage — his father, Jean-Pierre Cassel, was one of France’s most celebrated actors, often compared to Fred Astaire for his charm and dancing ability, and his mother, Sabine Litique, worked as a journalist. Despite his father’s fame, young Vincent was known as a rebellious student, moving through several boarding schools before eventually training at a circus school rather than following a traditional academic path.
His personal life has played out almost as publicly as his career. Cassel first married Italian actress Monica Bellucci in 1999, after the two fell for each other while filming “L’Appartement” in 1996.
