Nobody Expected This Voice From Him. The Whole Audience Stood Up In Shock.

When Luca Di Stefano walked out onto the America’s Got Talent stage during Season 15 in 2020, nobody in the audience expected what was about to happen. The young Italian singer looked shy, almost nervous, as he waited for his moment. Then he opened his mouth.

Luca chose to perform Marvin Gaye’s iconic “Let’s Get It On” — a song built on smooth, soulful falsetto. But instead of trying to match Gaye’s signature high register, Luca delivered the entire song in a deep, resonant baritone that stunned everyone in the room. The contrast between his soft-spoken presence backstage and the booming, velvety voice that came out of him the moment he started singing was the twist that made the audition unforgettable.

The judges’ reactions said it all. Heidi Klum could hardly believe the sound was coming from the young man standing in front of her, and even Simon Cowell — known for rarely being impressed — openly admitted he was caught off guard by the depth and control in Luca’s voice. At one point in the performance, Klum got so swept up in the moment that she shouted out the song’s title along with him, prompting the entire arena to rise to its feet, clapping along.

By the time Luca finished, all four judges — Klum, Sofia Vergara, Cowell, and Howie Mandel — voted yes, sending him straight through to the next round.

Off stage, Luca has kept a relatively low profile. He was born in 2001 in Italy and has been associated with the record label Musica Lavica Records. Despite the viral attention his audition earned him, he’s stayed guarded about his personal life, offering little insight into his relationships or day-to-day world beyond his music.

Not every AGT story ends with a trophy, though. According to fan records of the season, Luca ultimately withdrew from the competition before the judge cuts round, choosing to step back from the competition after his audition had already made him one of the most talked-about moments of the season.

Even years later, clips of his performance continue to circulate online, with viewers discovering him for the first time and reacting with the same disbelief the judges had in 2020 — proof that a voice like his doesn’t fade from memory, even after the show moves on.
