Phantom, a 6-month-old koala baby, stayed at his mother’s side after life-saving surgery.
After being struck by a car in Australia, a mother koala named Lizzy suffered a collapsed lung and facial injuries.
Phantom was unhurt, and because he was so young, doctors decided it was better not to separate him from his mother.
Phantom was perched on the back of his mother’s neck, continually embracing her, and it appeared like his hug was working.
“Phantom is with Lizzy for her procedures and check-ups to ensure that no one is overly anxious,” hospital workers remarked.
“Phantom is also in a “pouch” when he’s being weighed during starts to keep him safe and secure while he’s away from mom.”
