Humans can sometimes act in ways that are awful. We’re not sure how someone could be so cr.u.e.l to these helpless creatures. We don’t have the right to be bad to them if we can’t be nice to them.
Here’s an example of a narrative that illustrates the ho.r.rible behavior. In Elphin, a tiny village in County Roscommon, Ireland, a two-year-old dog was discovered tied to a fence in a field. The dog appeared to have been left by a person who had six newborn puppies who couldn’t even open their eyes fully.
They were left with no food or drink, and they were freezing and hungry. Despite being bound, the mom dog attempted to care for her puppies.
It was pure chance that a walker noticed the animals and alerted the police and the ISPCA. Soon after, help arrived, and the animals were taken to a veterinarian in Longford for medical treatment.
Fortunately, the dogs showed no signs of illness and were in good health, although they had to be kept there for a time. After the ISPCA posted this story on Facebook, people were angry and said they didn’t like it.
Emmy Lou was the name given to the mother dog, and the six puppies were named Billy, Ray, Dixie, Dolly, Dotty, June, and Patsy. The family will be cared for by the ISPCA for a while until they can locate a permanent home.
We are relieved that the dog and her family have been spared, but what about the other animals that are willing to put up with it? It’s tough to believe that someone would leave the pets in such an inhumane way.
