A woman who faced harsh criticism due to tumors covering her body has shared her remarkable transformation after life-changing surgery.
Libby Huffer, 45, who suffers from neurofibromatosis type 1, a genetic condition causing non-cancerous tumors, endured years of bullying and physical pain from the over 6,000 tumors on her body.
After her condition worsened during pregnancy, Libby decided to take action.
In 2016, she launched a fundraiser for a groundbreaking electrodessication surgery, which successfully removed about 1,000 tumors from her face and body.
Despite the physical and emotional scars, Libby’s confidence has grown since the surgery, and she feels much better about her appearance.
Reflecting on her experience, she expressed a desire for understanding, saying, “I wish people would talk to me instead of staring.”
The surgery cost $23,500, but it was worth it to escape the judgment she had faced for 30 years.
