Eric Hertlein recently visited his grandmother in Kansas, where she had taken in several stray cats, allowing them to sleep in her home. Upon his arrival, he quickly noticed that one of the “cats” looked quite different from the rest.
To his surprise, this “cat” turned out to be a small possum that had been pretending to be a cat all along!
Grandma was completely shocked when Eric pointed this out, especially since she had even named the possum, thinking it was just another kitten.
The little possum, likely orphaned, had found its way into Grandma’s warm home and cozy cat bed, fitting in so well that no one realized the difference.
While Eric found the situation amusing and couldn’t help but laugh, his grandmother didn’t believe him at first. It wasn’t until he highlighted the possum’s pointed nose and thin tail that she finally accepted the truth.
Despite the unexpected discovery, Grandma decided to keep the possum, named Tete. She felt no need to turn him away since he was harmless and got along well with the other cats.
This delightful mix-up became a heartwarming tale of friendship, showing that love knows no bounds, even between a possum and a caring grandmother.
