When Angelica was born on May 6, 2018, she was absolutely beautiful with her cute button nose, sparkling eyes, and a unique heart-shaped port wine stain on her face. While most of her friends and family accepted her birthmark, Marianna Bowering, Angelica’s mother, faced some harsh criticism from others.
Marianna shared one particularly hurtful online comment that implied Angelica’s face looked like it had been “pushed onto a skillet,” a reference to a grilled appearance. Such cruel remarks labeled Angelica as “hideous” and a “defect,” adding emotional strain to the family’s life.
To combat this negativity, Marianna decided to celebrate her daughter’s uniqueness. She recently used makeup to recreate Angelica’s port wine stain on her own face, inspired by vascular birthmark awareness day, which promotes painting hearts on cheeks. Initially, Marianna only intended to paint a heart but chose to replicate Angelica’s full birthmark.
Despite some suggesting that Angelica could hide her birthmark with makeup, Marianna believes in embracing and celebrating her daughter’s natural beauty.
She reassured TODAY that Angelica is in good health, with regular check-ups to monitor potential conditions. Marianna’s love and support shine through as she shows her daughter that her birthmark is something to be proud of.
