The 82-year-old actor, best known for his role as Victor Newman on *The Young and the Restless*, recently shared with fans that he has been diagnosed with cancer. This news came while he was recovering from knee replacement surgery.
Eric Braeden, one of daytime television’s most iconic actors, revealed during a 13-minute Facebook Live session that he experienced prostate issues during his recovery, which eventually led to a cancer diagnosis.
“I started having problems with my prostate while healing from the knee surgery,” he explained. “I’m being direct because I think some older men might benefit from hearing this, as it could happen to them too.”
After undergoing a successful UroLift surgery for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), doctors were able to address the cancer. The German-born actor is now undergoing a six-week immunotherapy treatment. “I’m feeling a bit off, but nothing too serious,” he said, adding that he’s learning to pace himself and pay more attention to his body.
Braeden is optimistic about his fight against cancer, stating, “I’m going to beat this. It’s not going to beat me.”
Reflecting on his nearly 40-year run on *The Young and the Restless*, Braeden said the role keeps him motivated. He encouraged others to support loved ones facing similar health challenges, noting the advancements in cancer treatment.
In a recent interview, he shared that acting helps him forget about his health struggles, and he finds joy in entertaining others.
We wish Eric Braeden a speedy recovery and continued strength.
