Discovering unexplained things in our homes is rarely a pleasant experience.
I don’t know about you, but when I spot an unfamiliar mark on the wall or catch a whiff of a strange smell, my mind races with worries about how much it might cost to fix.
I can certainly empathize with an internet user who felt alarmed after noticing mysterious black spots appearing in her kitchen. Odd markings or unexplainable discoveries in the kitchen can often lead to concern, especially since it’s the space where we prepare our food and want to maintain a sense of control.
One homeowner couldn’t identify the source of a series of peculiar black dots she kept encountering. “Does anyone know what these spots could be?” she asked on the “WeLoveMrsHinch” Facebook page. “They started on the kitchen tiles, and this morning, they were on top of the PC we keep in the kitchen.” Although the replies might not have been what she anticipated, she was fortunate that other users offered a definitive answer.
One commenter pointed out, “You’ll probably see a spider.” Another user chimed in, saying, “This time of year, spiders tend to leave droppings everywhere.” According to the Pest Guidance website, spiders don’t leave solid waste; instead, their droppings are thick and liquid, often resembling dark ink stains that can appear on walls and surfaces.
The website elaborated, stating that “spider droppings appear as splats or drips in shades of black, brown, white, or gray.” While the color and type may vary depending on the species, you can generally expect to find dark marks. “These droppings consist of food and other waste materials expelled from the spider’s body.”
To be honest, I had no idea what spider droppings looked like. Did you?
