In an inspiring turn of events, 55-year-old Richard Goodall, a janitor from Indiana, became the latest contestant to capture the hearts of *America’s Got Talent* (AGT) audiences. His emotional performance of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin'” won him the $1 million (€950,000) grand prize.
Goodall’s journey to fame is a testament to perseverance. Starting as a school janitor, he would sing in the hallways, unknowingly inspiring the children he worked with. He never imagined that his voice would one day land him in the AGT finale, performing with the iconic band Journey.
Before AGT, Goodall faced disappointment on *The Voice*, where he was cut after the audition round despite his strong vocal talent. Instead of letting the rejection define him, he used it as motivation.
His viral TikTok video of him singing at a school graduation ceremony encouraged him to try again, this time for AGT.
During his audition, Goodall received the coveted Golden Buzzer from judge Heidi Klum, who later expressed her belief in him and her joy over his victory.
After winning, Goodall humbly stated, “The sky is the limit,” and plans to continue his janitorial work while embracing the new opportunities that come with his fame.
