What a fantastic experience at Bristol Zoo! A mother gorilla with her newborn baby was spotted.
Kala, the mother, is nine years old.
“With dad, Jock, just a few meters away and the rest of the family group nearby, nine-year-old Kala gave birth spontaneously, overnight to the child,” Bristol Zoo stated.
“We’re all ecstatic,” said Lynsey Bugg, Curator of Mammals at Bristol Zoo. “Seeing a new-born baby gorilla is a once-in-a-lifetime experience; they are such an iconic and charismatic animal.”
Mother gorilla is devoted to her baby and takes excellent care of her. She also enjoys snuggling her one-month-old kid.
