Photographer Gaby Dornelas recorded the red lechwe herd congregating in Duba Plains, Botswana, in an apparent effort to drive the lion away.
Jennifer Sarre, a photographer from Perth, Australia, recorded the scene while on safari last month.
“A big herd of red lechwe was following the dominating male as he approached us,” Jennifer said.
“They were doing all they could to inform him that he had been observed.”
The photos of the herd trying to scare and drive away a hungry male lion have received over 5,000 likes on social media.
“I like these photos since they are such a role reversal and are so uncommon to see.” It was early in the morning, and the light was breathtaking.”
