A few lucky visitors to the Memphis Zoo in Tennessee were treated to a once-in-a-lifetime encounter that they will likely never forget.
They saw a female giraffe give birth to her first child, and the whole thing was caught on camera.
The giraffe was only supposed to arrive a few days later, so no one at the zoo thought it would happen so quickly.
But thankfully, someone who was lucky enough to see the event when it happened got to capture it as it all transpired. In the clip, you can see Mom looking for the ideal spot to give birth to her child.
And after the kid makes his debut into the world, mom’s powerful instincts quickly start to kick in, and she accepts her duty as a care provider with the type of love and care only a mom can deliver.
The baby was healthy, so the zookeepers didn’t have to do anything. This allowed the young mother and her baby to spend quality time together.
